Driver Pack Printershare Client

среда 02 января admin 93

We are running Server 2012 as our print server, with all our printers shared out and deployed using User GPOs. We recently updated the driver on the print server, and usually this triggers the client to update the printer drivers as well. Unfortunately this does not seem to be working correctly with out OCE Colorwave 650.

Apr 16, 2018 - Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1); Windows Server 2003. If you try to install the printer on a Windows XP SP1-based client by using the Add Printer Wizard or by using the printer share name from the. If you want to use this driver, contact your system administrator about disabling this policy.

The printe job is sent to the queue and seems to be forwarded to the printer, but nothing comes out. If I remove the printers from the client, then try to delete the driver and package from the print server properties on the client, it says the oeminfo.inf file is in use and cannot be deleted. If I use pnputil to search for the oem.inf file, I can see both the old and new versions of the driver listed. I can remove the old driver, but not the new driver.

I need to go into the registry and search for all occurrences of the printer share, and delete the keys. Sometimes this breaks network printing completely, and I need to delete the key listing my print server from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Print Providers Client Side Rendering Print Provider Servers Then I can add the printers again, and everything works.

What is the correct way to deploy driver updates to shared printers? I've had VERY marginal success with migrating print servers. Well I really wouldn't call it success either.

IMO the best method is to not copy from 2003 to 2008/2012 but recreate them manually. I know its a pain, but this is the only sure way you know that the drivers are compatible with the new operating system. This will also give you a chance to load only the consolidated printer drivers (thinking HP universal printer driver) where possible and then when not possible use the printer specific drivers. This way you are assured you have the latest printer driver available for both the print server and the client workstation. Also by using the consolidated printer drivers you reduce the number of varied drivers installed on your print server. In the end it is a much cleaner solution. Yes, migration is possible, but you end up messing with the print server quite a bit to just get it to print reliably with the clients.

Has this always been a problem? Do you have other printers that you can update the drivers of and it works properly? When I first deployed the Print Server, I had to enable 'Package Point and Print' to enable the clients to have permission to update/install the print drivers without administrator approval. Take a look at your event logs, if you're getting something along the lines of access denied or couldn't install the driver for whatever reason, you may need to enable this. Here's a screenshot of my setup, though you may need to tweak of course.
