How do I play without the CD? I've moved all of the.mpq files on the LoD disk to the Diablo II directory, yet it still says that I need a disk. I've followed the directions given by blizzard, yet I still can't get it to work. Apr 14, 2016 - I have the original discs for Diablo 2 and LOD, i reclaimed the games from B.Net and downloaded the installers for both. My current pc setup.
Hey all, after seeing all the diablo 2 threads popping up here, i decided to re install it, and re play an old favorite.which leads me to this: i dunno if my cd drive is going flakey, or my retail disc of diablo2: lord of destruction is beginning to shatter, or what.but the disc/drive area is emitting a horrible high pitched, vibrating sound during play. [only with d2:lod in the drive.not ut2k3, gta3, moh:aa, etc] so.i was wondering if anyone has any tips for playing diablo2 without the cd inserted in the drive? I do not play online, just single player, offline. I am using version 1.09 lod expansion pack. I have tried searching the net, and i have downloaded a few so called 'no-cd' files, but once unzipped, i find loaders, and other hacks to play on battlenet, without the cd drive. Do i need to go this complicated a route to accomplish this offline too? There are so many different 'no cd' files out there, all in different file forms, and sizes, it is hard to know which to get.
[i don't wanna fux0r my install, and have to start over] i thought all i would need is a special.exe file, and all i do is stuff it into the game directory, overwriting the retail one, and away i go? I did the full install, so i thought i loaded all the music, and video files i need, so the cd wouldn't be necessary? [some of the files i downloaded say to add some music, and video files off of the cd, into the game directory, and that is why i ask.] i was hoping someone could email it to me, or post a link to the file.or post up any experience with a particular file.thanks [just for the record, it is a retail diablo2 box set, with legit keys].
Avitar, If you've had the game installed on the computer you're trying to use now, you may need to delete a registry entry or it's going to think you want to play, not install. Using the Windows regedit app, locate and delete the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER SOFTWARE Blizzard Entertainment Diablo II Then run the new installer again. Do so as an administrator by right clicking the icon used to start it and selecting that option. To see your 26 digit key, it should be listed on your Battle.net Account Management page. Go to the Summary section and then select the game. You must have Diablo II installed before you can install the Lord of Destruction.
If you require any additional assistance with Diablo II, please post in the Classic Games Technical Support forum located. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback?
